About Sugar Plum: The Sugaring Experts

Why Us?

At Sugar Plum, we’re more than just a sugaring studio—we are The Sugaring Experts and dedicated care-takers, passionate about making hair removal a smooth, comfortable, and confidence-boosting experience. Unlike waxing, our all-natural sugaring method is a gentler, less painful, and more effective alternative that not only removes unwanted hair but also reduces regrowth over time. Our clients love how sugaring leaves their skin feeling healthy, happy, and silky smooth—without the irritation and harsh chemicals.

Our Story: How Sugar Plum Was Born

Sugar Plum was founded in Seattle in 2011 with a simple yet powerful mission: to create a better beauty industry—one that’s natural, effective, and puts people first, taking great pride in ensuring our beloved clients and employees are valued and cared for. Our founder, Camilla, discovered sugaring while searching for an alternative to waxing that was kinder to the skin, the environment, and the body. After perfecting her technique, she opened Sugar Plum to bring the benefits of organic hair removal to the local community. What started as a single studio has grown into a thriving franchise that continues to not only lead the industry, but change it for the better with cutting edge expertise, inclusivity, and sustainability.

SUGAR PLUM’S IMPACT

Giving Back Through Charity Days

At Sugar Plum, we understand that true beauty goes beyond the surface—it’s about making a positive impact in the communities we serve. That’s why we are committed to giving back through our Charity Days, where a portion of our proceeds is donated to local causes. By hosting these special events in our studios, we’re able to support organizations that align with our values of care, compassion, and sustainability.

Our Charity Days are more than just an opportunity to give back—they’re a celebration of the connections we’ve built with our clients and community members. Whether it’s supporting local women’s shelters, environmental initiatives, or youth programs, we believe that every small act of kindness contributes to a greater good. We believe in doing business the right way—with sustainability, integrity, and inclusivity at our core. Our sugaring paste is made with just three simple, all-natural ingredients—sugar, water, and citric acid—making it 100% biodegradable (and yes, even edible!). We use biodegradable gloves, practice zero-waste cleaning methods, and are committed to continually reducing our environmental footprint.

Beyond sustainability, we prioritize ethical practices and a work environment where our employees feel valued and supported.

From the moment you walk through our doors, we want you to feel at ease, knowing you’re in the best hands. Whether it’s your first sugaring experience or part of your self-care routine, we’re here to make the world a little sweeter—one sugaring service at a time..

Management Team

Camilla: Founder / CEO

Camilla has been working in the spa industry since 1996. She moved home to Washington State in 2000 and started working with natural skin care ingredients. This education taught her how to treat her own cystic acne. The transition to esthetics in 2002 was an organic one, allowing her to combine her massage skills and love of holistic skin care. Camilla was named “Top Waxer in Seattle” by Allure magazine in April 2005. Later that same year, she learned the art of Sugaring. Camilla used her years of quick and thorough hair removal services to create Sugar Plum's proprietary speed sugaring techniques.

Justin: Chief Operating Officer

Justin was drawn to Sugar Plum by its social and environmental mission to transform the spa industry through innovation in business structure, sustainability and vision. What he enjoys most about sugaring is how gentle it is on his skin, leaving no irritation or feelings of harshness. Utilizing his background with various sustainability organizations, Justin supports the business side of making Sugar Plum more sustainable. He has lived in a few areas of the country, growing up in D.C. and Virginia before making Seattle his new home, where nearly all of his free time is spent with his twin daughters.

April: Director of Education

April loves being a technician educator. Her favorite moment is when the light bulb goes on, and her students realize they can do this! Before starting with Sugar Plum in the summer of 2013, she had already spent twenty years in the beauty industry, sixteen of whom were as an educator. She was one of the first recognized Master Estheticians in the state of Washington and helped teach the first class accredited for Master Estheticians. What inspires her most about Sugar Plum, is the focus on changing women’s lives and empowering women to make decisions for their futures. In her opinion this is the best company she has ever worked for, exemplifying respect, integrity, and trust. What she enjoys most about sugaring is that it's clean and green. It’s kind to the skin and takes some talent to pull off— literally.

April runs the training classes for our new hires and manages the studio at Roosevelt Way. When not at Sugar Plum, she likes to grow things in her garden, create art, and be in the wilderness.

Tina: Director of Client Relations

Tina was inspired to join the beauty industry in 2005 as a licensed esthetician. She worked in a day spa performing facials and waxing. After taking a short break to teach yoga, she found Sugar Plum and fell in love with the culture. Eventually earning regional management position then almost 8 years later, acquiring a role as Director of Client Relations. Throughout her career, Tina has demonstrated a commitment to excellence and innovation in spa management. She dedicated to promoting acceptance and inclusivity. She is a wellness enthusiast, a metaphysical believer, who is passionate about promoting holistic well-being and positive vibes. Her passion is creating a serene and fun oasis wherever she goes. Her mission is to come together to harness the power of positive thinking to manifest our dreams.

Jessica: Corporate Office Director

Jessica spent a decade helping students fall in love with the beauty industry as the Director of Admissions at Paroba College and prior to that, The Greenwood Academy may it rest in peace--it’s now a bar, woohoo! Licensed since 2006 as a Cosmetologist and Cosmetology Educator at a college that taught Sugaring, she saw first hand the many benefits and how friendly it is to the planet. Jessica was drawn to Sugar Plum by the rave reviews of their employees, many that were graduates of hers. Jessica has always called the PNW her home. She spent many years in the local art scene as the co-founder and performer of a burlesque troupe. She now spends most of her time geeking out with her husband and two small minions. She finds zen in late night lap swimming and her underwater iPod, which has changed her life!
